8 Excellent Activities to Do at Home with Friends

It’s not selfish to want a little ‘me time’. It’s necessary, in fact, because you’re putting your needs first to remain physically and mentally healthy. This time for yourself helps you unwind. It creates space for self-discovery and nurturing relationships so you can bring your best self to them, to your work, and more.

Then there’s the importance of spending time with not just your family but also your friends because it enriches your life and your health. It increases your sense of connection, meaning, and purpose. There are so many ways to spend time with friends and catch up them. One way is by organising an activity at home and inviting them round. Here are some suggestions:

Karaoke

What could be better than singing to some power ballads or even a bit of Motown? You might not be able to hit all the high notes, but that’s part of the fun! Besides, if you can’t murder ‘I Will Survive’ in front of your friends, who can you murder it in front of?

Book or story club

A much quieter affair than karaoke, but a chance to connect by all reading the same book or story and sharing thoughts about it. Simply choose a book or story, all read it beforehand and then meet to discuss it. Alternatively, you could read the story out loud to your friends, over multiple nights if necessary, and then give everyone the chance to comment.

Casino night

Games nights, whether old-school board games or digital games, are often a success. One way to spice up games evenings is by holding a live casino games night, instead of board games. Live casino recreates the experience of being in a brick-and-mortar casino, which means a live dealer conducts the games, so it’s that little bit different to standard online casino gaming.

There are lots of live casino UK options available online so selecting one won’t be a problem. Let your guests know in good time when you’ll be holding your evening and what you plan to play, so they have plenty of time to learn the rules and practise beforehand.

Cocktail making

If you all like drinking cocktails, why not each learn to make one and then gather to make them at your home? You could transform it into a competition. Each person makes the cocktail of their choice, and all the others award points. Of course, the cocktail doesn’t have to be alcoholic. Guests can make put together a mocktail if they prefer. You could make your cocktail evenings a regular affair and become a cocktail club.

Make it a spa night

Sure, you could spend several hundreds of pounds on expensive treatments at a spa, but that’s boring. The more entertaining route is to have your friends over and all indulge in some DIY pampering. Gather face and skincare essentials such as facemasks, bath bombs, nail polish, candles, bathrobes and towels, and treat yourselves right. You can go for soothing music or something slightly more up tempo to truly make those memories.

Practise a TikTok dance

You could invite your friends round to perfect your dance skills together. TikTok is full of simple, entertaining dances you can learn, even if you’ve got two hopelessly left feet. If you have better coordination, you could put your own spin on a dance or even choreograph a new one completely. Who knows; you could be the next TikTok sensation!

Have a dinner party

This is a fab way to try some tasty new food. You could find a popular recipe, try it out and then invite your friends to come over and try it.

This isn’t the only way to organise the dinner party. Instead, you could make it a group dinner where everyone mucks in, which keeps the cost and workload down. You could make it a themed dinner, such as fondue night, Vietnamese night or other world cuisine night. Cooking together is a beautiful way to make memories.

Hold a trivia night

If you and you friends like activities that engage your brains, why not hold a trivia night? This could be general knowledge or based on a specific theme (Harry Potter is popular!). In either case, you’re going to find out who’s the nerdiest!

Decide what’s at stake. Is there a prize for the winner? Is there a ‘punishment’ for the loser? Importantly though, remember to enjoy it. Don’t be too harsh, especially with the ‘punishment’! It’s just a game, after all.

Arranging an activity and inviting your friends round so you can all take part together is an amazing way to spend quality time and connect with them. Passing time with friends is essential to enrich your life with purpose and meaning. Other enjoyable activities you could do together include baking, jewellery making, watching sport, and playing board games.
