7 Tips for Flying with a Baby or Toddler

All parents who are going to fly with their baby and choose a form of transport such as a plane are faced with the difficult question of how to make this flight as easy as possible. It is known that many people are prejudiced against being on the same plane with babies and do not want to spend the whole flight with a crying one. To avoid unpleasant glances and awkward situations, the parent should consider any possible problems that may occur with the baby during a long flight. Due to the fact that many parents have already experienced that, we can find many recommendations on how to spend this time not only without incidents, but also enjoyable. Let’s consider some of the most important ones.

1. First of all, parents should allocate time correctly and to arrive at the airport 20-30 minutes before boarding  without delay. Navigating at the airport with your baby can be a real challenge, so you should have extra time in case of an unforeseen situation. In this case, you can use the nursing room or any assistance if necessary.

2. Usually, all parents who fly with young children prefer night flights. But take into account the morning flights. In this case, the possibility of postponement or cancellation of the flight is lower, especially in the busy travel season. Moreover, it will be much easier for parents to be energetic the next day, which is important when having babies, if you do not have to spend the whole night without sleep.

3, Do not forget about the comfort and safety of the child. The plane may not have special equipment for the baby’s seat, so it is better to take care of it yourself. Bringing a car seat for a child will definitely be a good decision.

4. When booking tickets or choosing your seat, try to get a window seat. This will give you the opportunity to be alone when feeding or otherwise caring for your baby and definitely will be more comfortable.

5. Take care of a handbag for your baby, which can be useful during the flight. It should contain everything necessary for the care and entertainment of the baby. First of all, put napkins, diapers and other care products, the first aid kit for any health issues, and a favorite toy that can soothe a child with irritation.

6. Do not forget about the baby formula if you choose this feeding. Of course, ready-made baby formulas will come in handy in flight, as it is really convenient and will not cause you any discomfort. Make sure you get all the necessary bottles and pacifiers for feeding.

7. Good advice is to feed your baby during take-off and landing. Of course, for an adult this process is stressful, not to mention a small child who feels discomfort as well. That is why the process of breastfeeding or infant formula will have a calming effect on the child and reduce his understanding of take-off or landing.

Follow these rules and your child will feel less discomfort when flying, as well as parents and people around. Have a nice flight!
