5 easy ways to light up your home for Autumn
With Autumn in full swing it can often feel as though every day is quite dull and miserable, especially here up North, and so it’s the perfect time to add light to your home. I think lighting is so important at this time of year especially and gives that lovely little boost we all so desperately need. I’m sharing five simple ways to add light to your home this Autumn.
1. Add decorative lanterns
Decorative lanterns are a great way to add lighting to your home and also work perfectly for Halloween or later for Christmas. They can create a spooky feel amongst your pumpkins or a warm cosy feel beside the tree. I love the intricacy of the Moroccan style designs which fit perfectly into any interior. Lights4Fun have a fantastic range of indoor lanterns to choose from.

2. Use LED candles
Nothing beats candlelight in the Autumn and Winter months but when you have a family, and young children especially, open flames can be a real worry. For that reason I love LED candles which have an authentic wax finish but are purely battery operated for a much safer option. You can use them alone in place of regular candles, in your lanterns, your pumpkins or other decorative items and with them being LED you’re really getting your moneys worth as opposed to burning expensive candles.

3. Add lighting to your garden
I’m sure I’m not the only one who will admit that we spend far less time in our gardens at this time of year. Obviously the weather is colder, it’s dark very early on and it can feel a little miserable out there! Introducing garden lights is such a great idea and whether that’s outdoor lanterns, fairy lights or solar lights, they all make a real difference. With rising fuel prices we are trying to cut back where possible so for us solar lights are such a great alternative and allow us to use our outdoor space all year round without the worry of adding to our bills. You can also reach out to reputable lighting companies such as Blingle in Stamford to ensure that your garden lights are safely installed.
4. Bring light to your bedooms
Switching up the kind of light in your bedroom is a great way to create a more cosy and ambient setting at this time of year. I know our children really struggle with the darker mornings and so just adding in a more cosy feel as they get ready is a lovely touch. It can be as simple as switching up your bedside light for one of the smaller indoor lanterns for or introducing fun children’s lighting such as neon signs or themed items. Our kids love their neon signs above their beds and in keeping with cutting back on fuel consumption, they use far less electricity than the big lights.

5. Use an Autumn microlight tree
You don’t have to wait until Christmas to introduce a tree to your home! Plenty of people use microlight trees all year round be that for Easter, Halloween or simply as a decoration through the Autumn. As huge fans of the outdoors we are all about bringing the outside in and not only does it give that ambient lighting we desperately need in the colder months, but it’s a lovely way to feel connected to nature even on the days it’s just too grey and miserable to get out there.
