5 Benefits of Engineered Wood Flooring

1. Easier to live with than solid wood flooring

Natural wood reacts to temperature and moisture which causes it to swell and shrink accordingly. This can cause problems down the line if the flooring hasn’t been installed correctly and in the appropriate environment.

As it’s only the very top layer of engineered wood flooring that is natural wood, and not the entirety of each plank like solid wood flooring, the flooring is overall more stable.

2. Easier to install than solid wood flooring

Due to the reactive nature of natural wood, solid wood flooring is required to be fully glued to the subfloor and between each plank. This type of installation is trickier and more time consuming.

As engineered wood flooring is less reactive it is able to be installed as a floating floor over underlay which is an easier and quicker installation to complete. Many engineered wood floors also have click together planks which don’t require glue either, further adding to the ease of the installation.

3. Scratches and light dents can be completely removed

As is the case with both engineered and solid wood flooring, it is possible to sand the top layers back to remove scratches and light dents. This is not possible with most alternative floor types and is a huge advantage of the flooring.

Once the floor has been sanded back it is then refinished with oil or lacquer. This renews the floor often making it look brand new again.

4. More luxurious than other floor types

Flooring built from materials found in nature such as wood and stone have a natural luxury that’s hard to compete with. Other floor types such as vinyl and laminate have been created by us to replicate these materials.

The top layer of engineered wood flooring is real wood grown naturally. It is this top layer that gives the flooring its natural luxurious effect. It feels like the real thing, because what you can see and feel is.

5. Reasonably priced options

Even though engineered wood flooring is a luxury floor covering, there are options available for a wide range of budgets. It is the popularity of these products that has created a booming marketplace with a wide range of products for a wide range of budgets.

This means you are able to own a real wood floor without emptying your bank balance!
