Imole candles: Review & Giveaway

Regardless of whatever state my house is in, there is one certainty when you step inside the door – I will always have a candle burning. I love walking into a room and smelling a fresh scent on a dull day, a festive aroma in the build up to Christmas, or a combination of smells which bring back an old memory. I have tried so many different candles over the years and am always open to trying brands. So when we were asked to review Imole Candles, I couldn’t wait to discover some new scents!

Imole is a word derived from the Yoruba language in Nigeria which in its earliest manifestation is the expression of light, meaning: “House of Light.” The term can also be used as a form of endearment, of which Latifah, the founder of Imole Candles, was referred to by her late mother. Each Imọlẹ candle is handmade at her home in London, and all candles are made with 100% natural soy wax, all hand-poured with love, care and thought.

The first thing that struck me about the candles was just how contemporary and utterly stylish they are. With three ranges to choose from – Ayebaye (classics), Ibile (traditional) and Tunu (concrete wax burners) there really is something for every one, and every occasion. I think it’s always lovely to give decorative items as gifts, there are always such lovely candles available or home decor vases for sale.

The first candle I chose was from the Ibile range which Latifah designed with inspiration from Africa in mind. Using a blend of exquisite fragrances, these candles also feature wooden wicks that create the soothing sound of a crackling fire when they burn. Each concrete vessel is handmade and no two are exactly the same.  I chose the Cinnamon & Apple candle which has always been one of my favourite scents.

The packaging of each candle is stunning, presented in a sleek gift box and tied with co-ordinating ribbon. Inside the candles are kept secure inside a drawstring cotton bag and the moment I opened it the scent really hit me! Made from 100% natural soy wax, the aroma instantly reminded me of Christmas and cosy Winter nights by the fire. Priced at £30 I think this is a really beautiful gift that everyone would love!

The second candle I chose was the Thai Lime & Mango candle, was from the Ayebaye range. This collection of dual- wick scented soy candles provides the continued dedication to greater fragrance release and a cleaner, more efficient burn. More light, less wax residue and pure, clean fragrances, and they are amazing!

Combining Indian lemongrass, Italian lemon and Thai lime, supported with pineapple, melon, grapefruit and mango, the smell was so refreshing and uplifting. In a white matte glass with a flat braided wick, complete with a metal lid, also in a stylish presentation box, it has a burn time of up to 50 hours which, for £25, is amazing!

My third choice, and my absolute favourite was the Mandarin & Sandalwood candle. The fragrance is just the most gorgeous combination of sweet citrus mandarin alongside the warming aroma of sandalwood with hints of orange blossom. But the scent is not the only thing that I love, it’s the fact that it comes in the most stunning 400ml handmade concrete jar with matching lid.

Each container is different, no two are the exact same and they are sealed so they can be reused for plant pots or storage which is such a great idea! Again the candle comes in a gorgeous presentation box and at £45, with a burn time of 60 hours, is a really special gift for someone special.

We are giving one lucky reader the chance to win a Mandarin & Sandalwood candle of their own simply by entering via the link below. The winner will be chosen at random and notified via email. Good luck!
