As I have shared here on the blog, this year I am trying to read far more books across a real range of genres. I have always played it very safe with my reading, opting for easy fictional reads with each book not dissimilar from the last. So when I was sent The Little Book of Dior by Karen Homer, following the story of Christian Dior’s, it felt like a great way to branch out into something a little outside of my usual choices.
Despite Dior being such a huge fashion icon, I know very little about his rise to fame and found it incredibly interesting to find out more. Karen Homer, beautifully depicts Dior’s early life, the brand’s inception, the triumphs of the couture collections on the catwalk and the red carpet, and the brand’s journey after the death of its founder.
The book is a must for those with an interest in fashion with curated selections of illustrations to showcase how Maria Grazia Chiuri has steered the brand as it stays true to its identity of opulence, femininity, drama and the creation of what Christian Dior called ‘the complete look’, from garments to perfume and shoes.
