No matter where you’re traveling to on your vacation, it’s actually easier than you think to pack light while still taking everything you need for your time away from home. In fact, if you follow these tips to the letter, you may be able to get away with purely taking cabin luggage with you, which will save you a lot of time and stress at the baggage carousel. So, what should you pack if you want to travel light but look stylish? Read on to find out.
Choose Three Colors That Co-ordinate Well
When planning what you’re going to take on vacation, it’s a good idea to choose three colors that coordinate well. You can then purchase pieces of clothing in these colors that can be mixed and matched to make a variety of different outfits. The colors you choose are purely down to personal choice, but for an example, charcoal, navy, and white are a fantastic combo for a city break, while khaki, white and orange work well for a beach vacation. Ideally, you want to choose clothes that you can wear two to three times each on your trip – anything less than this is taking up pointless space in your luggage.
Pack One Evening Outfit
There’s rarely much need to pack more than one evening outfit unless you’re traveling for business and need to look smart at all times. If you plan ahead, you can take one designer evening outfit with you, and also purchase one or two day dresses that can be dressed up to make them suitable for nights out. A light shawl or a short jacket can also help to transform your evening look.
Think Carefully About Your Shoes
Most women don’t need more than two pairs of shoes – three at the absolute maximum – for a vacation. A comfortable daytime pair of shoes, such as walking boots or sneakers are a must, as is a pair of evening shoes such as high heels or sandals. Depending on where you are visiting, you may also want to pack a pair of light flipflops. There’s these Gucci sneakers from SSENSE which are ideal for wearing during the day as they’re comfortable as well as fashionable. While they’re not as cheap as the shoes you can pick up on the high street, you can rest assured they will last and do their job – and look great in your travel photographs!
A few key accessories can change the way an entire outfit looks, and thankfully, most are light and take up little room in a suitcase. Costume jewelry is a good idea as it’s bright and brash and can completely transform the way that an outfit comes across. In addition to an oversized bag, you could also pack your makeup in a small clutch and then use that for evenings out. Sunglasses are also recommended as these also change the way you appear to others.
All of the above should easily fit into a cabin suitcase, eliminating the need for you to check in luggage before a flight. And, best of all, you’ll still look amazing in every travel photo you take!
