After a very indulgent Christmas and New Year, by the start of February I was more than ready for a detox. As someone who has never managed to stick to a detox for longer than five minutes (funny how chocolate just finds a way into my mouth!), I needed a plan that was easy to follow, convenient for busy mums, and most of all meant that I wouldn’t have to give up chocolate entirely!
So when Teami Blends contacted me to try their 30 day detox plan I was interested to find out more. With so many fad diets out there, many being dangerously unhealthy and impossible to maintain, I was impressed by the simplicity of the Teami Blends 30 day detox. The idea is to drink a combination of two types of Teami herbal tea, Skinny and Colon……and it’s as simple as that!
For me, although I didn’t want to lose any of the weight that I have worked so hard to gain over the last two years, I did feel extremely bloated and have been struggling with on-going gastric and digestive issues. My skin has really suffered over the winter months, dark circles under my eyes and breaking out in spots, and so I was excited to read that not only does Teami Blends claim to help you feel better, but they also claim to help you look better too!
When my 30 day detox pack arrived I was excited to get started. The pack includes 30 days of Teami Skinny, one cup each morning, and 15 days of Teami Colon, one cup on alternate days. The pack contained a diffuser and an instruction booklet which told me that the tea would help in the following ways –
- Boost metabolism
- Start burning stored fat
- Calms muscle spasms and muscle tightness
- Naturally raise energy levels
- A detox for your internal organs
- Reduce bloating
- Improve your complexion
- Flush out harsh toxins
- Fix digestive issues
My biggest concern was that as someone who drinks neither tea or coffee, that I would struggle to drink the tea. When I saw that the Skinny tea was loose I assumed the worst and yet I followed the instructions using the diffuser and was pleasantly surprised that the tea was far nicer than herbal teas I have tried previously. It was actually quite nice to sit down with a hot drink, especially through a very cold February, and I was able to add honey and lemon on the mornings when I was craving something a little sweeter.
On alternate days I had a Teami Colon drink before bed, made with a teabag, and again it was pleasant enough and I had no issues in drinking it. The instructions state that first time detoxers should be aware of not allowing the tea to brew for too long so to have a more gentle effect, which I followed for the first few days. As the detox progressed I allowed the tea to brew for a little longer and did not experience any adverse side effects. I won’t go into too much detail about my digestive system, but I will say that the tea definitely helped to gently relieve any issues and discomfort that I was previously experiencing.
At the end of the 30 days I can honestly say that I have felt the benefit of the cleanse. My on-going stomach issues have improved to the point where I am experiencing very few episodes of acid reflux and heart burn, and I have far less bloating and abdominal discomfort. Initially I felt that my skin broke out during the first week and yet by the end of the month my skin is clearer and brighter. I have to be honest, I didn’t notice a marked change in my energy levels and yet with four children, three of whom are relentless, I think it will take far more than a detox to increase my depleted energy levels!
