When we were contacted by the lovely people at Caketoppers and asked would we like to sample their cakes, it was a no-brainer that the answer would be a resounding YES!! If there’s one thing we love in this house it’s cake, and although I no longer get to eat it with being gluten-free, I had four very willing, and opinionated, children who were lining up to review the cakes for me
While we waited on our delivery, I browsed the Caketoppers website and was impressed by their extensive range of cakes, cupcakes and printed icing edible toppers. I can’t lie, baking really isn’t my speciality, and each birthday when the children ask for a specific cake design I can only hope and pray that it can be found in the local supermarket, and more often than not they have asked for something so obscure that I’ve had to disappoint them with something else.
The great thing about Caketoppers is that you can have anything at all printed onto the icing, any photo, logo or special message, which means that there will never be an occasion when you’re left disappointed. Whether, like me, you would prefer to avoid disaster and buy a ready made cake, or whether you simply wish to buy the cake topper to go on your own creation, there really is something for every occasion and having showed the girls the Disney Frozen Caketoppers selection, I know exactly which we will be buying for their next birthday.
When our cakes arrived I was more than impressed with the speed of delivery, next day in the UK, and also the packaging which meant that our cakes arrived intact and looking almost too good to eat. We loved that the cakes had my Five Little Doves logo on the top, the children were so excited to see a picture that they are so familiar with on a cake. “Wow that’s us!”, Eva exclaimed, and proceded to tell us how she was going to take a big bite out of Megan first.
With plain sponge, chocolate sponge and a thick layer of icing, the cupcakes were a huge hit with the children. After the first bite Megan announced that they were, “Delicious!” while Harry told us they were, “Much good!”. Lewis declared that his favourite were the chocolate cupcakes, something which Eva absolutely agreed with.
And although I only watched, salivating like a cake-deprived mad woman, I drew from my extensive cake knowledge, gleaned from watching Mary Berry on the GBBO, and concluded that the cakes looked moist, well baked and not a soggy bottom in sight! It comes as no surprise that Caketoppers supply to big shops such as Harrods, Selfridges, Waitrose and Fortnum & Mason, and for the quality received, the cost is extremely reasonable.
The exciting part is that you don’t just have to take my word for it. Caketoppers have offered my readers a 10% discount code to use on their website Caketoppers simply by entering FLD10 at the check-out.
And if that’s not enough, Caketoppers are also giving you the chance to win nine flower cupcakes in both plain and chocolate sponge, presented in a beautiful cerise pink gift box either for yourself or as a gift for a recipient of your choice. To be in with a chance of winning simply leave a comment telling me who you would most like to share your cupcakes with!
